Harley Quinn’s Kite Man Spinoff Gets a Series Order at HBO Max

HBO Max is officially investing in Noonan’s. Variety reports that the streaming service has ordered 10 episodes of the upcoming Harley Quinn spinoff, which focuses on the continuing adventures of Kite Man and his encounters with other DC supervillains.

Noonan’s appeared throughout Harley Quinn’s first two seasons as the preferred watering hole for Gotham City’s criminal class. It was also the place where Harley recruited Clayface and Doctor Psycho to join her supervillain crew. But now, the pub is under new management. The upcoming spinoff finds Kite Man buying Noonan’s after his botched engagement to Poison Ivy. Thankfully, he isn’t alone. Another third-rate DC villain, Golden Glider (best known as an enemy of The Flash), is tagging along to help him finance his purchase of the bar through new criminal exploits. It also sounds like the two will become more than just friends on the series.

Matt Oberg is reprising his Harley Quinn role as the voice of Kite Man. Unfortunately, there’s still no word on who will voice Golden Glider to life. The spinoff was previously announced last month and will feature an appearance by Harley and Ivy in the pilot episode. Subsequent episodes will reportedly bring new DC villains into the fold as well.

Harley Quinn co-creators Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey are executive producing Noonan’s with Lorey acting as showrunner. Harley herself, Kaley Cuoco, will also executive produce the show through her Yes, Norman Productions banner alongside Sam Register.

“We love the wild and fun world of Harley Quinn so much we just had to make a spin-off and who better to center it around than the outcast Kite Man,” said Suzanna Makkos, executive vice president of original comedy and adult animation for HBO Max and Adult Swim. “Justin, Patrick, and Dean have created the perfect local hangout for Gotham City’s not-so-finest at Noonan’s, where bar patrons can blow off steam after a long day of mayhem.”

Harley Quinn unlocked a world of hilarious possibilities with the iconic Super Heroes and Super-Villains of the DC Universe,” added Peter Girardi, executive vice president of alternative programming for Warner Bros. Animation. “Exploring this world further with our partners at HBO Max and DC is going to be a lot of fun. Plus, after getting dumped by Poison Ivy, the least we could do was give Kite Man his own show.”

HBO Max hasn’t announced a release date for Noonan’s. However, Harley Quinn season 3 will hit premiere later this year.
