Amazon’s The Boys has built up a sizable audience since it premiered last year, and its devoted fanbase includes none other than The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan. In fact, Morgan’s love for the series is so strong that he’s been publicly lobbying for a role on Twitter. Thankfully, he already knows the show’s creator, Eric Kripke. While speaking with Collider, Kripke revealed that he does have a role in mind for Morgan. But of course, this all depends on whether Amazon orders The Boys season 3.
Kripke and Morgan’s relationship dates back to Supernatural, where Morgan made recurring appearances as John Winchester, so it makes sense that they’d be down to work together again. However, due to Morgan’s Walking Dead commitments, their schedules would have to line up.

“I absolutely have,” said Kripke. “There’s one role we’re already talking about. He has to, uh, we have to like coordinate. Because you know, he’s on The Walking Dead, so he has another home. But we already talked about one role, and there might be a potential other that we’re talking about. But we are, just this past week we were literally texting back and forth about trying to figure out how to get him on the show. I don’t think it’s a done deal yet, but the will is there, and we’re both talking about it.”
The Boys’ future beyond the upcoming second season is currently unknown. Regardless, there are still a number of characters (supe or otherwise) that Morgan could play on the series. Plus, it would certainly be thrilling to watch Morgan team up or duke it out with Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher.
The Boys season 2 will hit Amazon Prime on September 4. To help pass the time until the new episodes premiere, you can also check out the recently-released season 1 blooper reel via Instagram below.
