Aside from his appearance in Captain Marvel, Nick Fury has had a relatively small role in the MCU for the past few years. However, that may soon change in a big way. Variety is reporting that Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role in a Nick Fury series on Disney+. The report also notes that Jackson will serve as an executive producer on the show.
Disney+ did not respond to Variety’s initial story, but the outlet also notes that Kyle Bradstreet will write the series and executive produce it as well. Jackson has been playing Fury since the post-credits scene in Iron Man. Prior to that, Marvel infamously used Jackson’s likeness for Fury in The Ultimates, a modern reboot of the Avengers comic book series.

Jackson made two guest appearances in ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as numerous other roles in the Marvel movies. His last MCU appearance came in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which revealed that Nick Fury is no longer on Earth. Instead, Fury is somewhere out in space on Skrull starship.
Story details about the Nick Fury series are currently unknown. However, the techniques used to make Jackson appear young in Captain Marvel could allow Marvel to place the series in any part of Fury’s career.
