Tony Revolori Might Be Joining Disney+’s Willow Series

Disney+’s Willow series recently lost John M. Chu as a director. Regardless, the casting process continues, and the show’s producers are currently eyeing a familiar face for a lead role. According to Deadline, Tony Revolori is in talks to join the small-screen follow-up to Ron Howard’s 1988 fantasy film.

If Revolori’s deal goes through, he’ll star opposite Ellie Bamber, Cailee Spaeny, and Erin Kellyman, who all joined Willow back in November. The sequel’s plot mainly revolves around a trio of young girls in search of a missing prince. But apparently, they’ll also be accompanied by another character named Boorman, who’s said to be similar to Val Kilmer’s Madmartigan from Howard’s movie. Deadline speculates that Revolori might be in line to play this role. And of course, Warwick Davis’ Willow Ufgood will somehow factor into the story as well.

Revolori first garnered notice when he headlined Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel in 2014. After this, he began appearing in Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man movies as Flash Thompson, a role he’s expected to reprise in Spider-Man 3, which started filming last fall. Revolori will also make an appearance in Anderson’s The French Dispatch later this year.

Solo: A Star Wars Story co-writer Jonathan Kasdan wrote the pilot episode for Willow. He’s also serving as co-showrunner alongside Wendy Mericle, a veteran of The CW’s Arrow. Howard and original Willow screenwriter Bob Dolman are both executive producing the new series with Lucasfilm.

Disney+ still hasn’t set a release date for Willow.
