Filming on Star Wars: Andor has been underway since last November, but the show has just added another actor to its ranks. According to Deadline, Robert Emms will have a role on the upcoming series, which has Diego Luna returning to play his character from Rogue One.
Emms joins a cast that also includes Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, Fiona Shaw, and Kyle Soller. The new series takes place five years before the events of Rogue One and will show Luna’s Cassian Andor coming into his own as a vital member of the Rebel Alliance during its decades-long fight against the Galactic Empire.
Fans might recognize Emms from his role as Thomas on HBO’s His Dark Materials. He also appeared on the network’s Chernobyl miniseries in 2019. On the big screen, Emms has had minor roles in films like Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Borg vs. McEnroe, and Kick-Ass 2. His other TV credits include Atlantis, Happy Valley, Gunpowder, and Cleaning Up.

Lucasfilm is currently producing 12 episodes of Andor, and it sounds like the studio is planning to keep the series around longer than one year. Alan Tudyk, who played the reprogrammed imperial droid K-2SO in Rogue One, previously confirmed that he isn’t making an appearance in the show’s first season. Instead, the producers are saving his return for a possible season 2.
Star Wars: Andor will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
