Warning: There are spoilers ahead for the first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi! Deborah Chow teases
Obi-Wan Kenobi didn’t hold back on fan service when its first two episodes hit Disney+ last Friday. Early trailers previously confirmed that a young Luke Skywalker would somehow factor into the storyline. But the appearance of a 10-year-old Princess Leia was a nice surprise, as was the return of her father, Bail Organa, with Jimmy Smits reprising his role from the Star Wars prequel trilogy. With four episodes left, the rumor mill is currently abuzz with who else might show up as Obi-Wan continues his rescue mission. And while she isn’t naming names, director Deborah Chow says we can definitely expect a few more cameos along the way.
Chow teased the appearance of more surprise characters while discussing the series with Rotten Tomatoes (via ComicBookMovie.com). But more importantly, she insisted that the cameos actually serve a purpose and won’t distract from the larger story.
“I don’t think it would be Star Wars if we didn’t have some Easter eggs, and we didn’t have some cameos,” said Chow. “So there definitely are some to come. I think for us, what we do have in the show, it needed to come out of character for us. We didn’t want to just put things in for the sake of it.”

“Obi-Wan Kenobi is a character that has definitely interacted with a lot of people and has done a lot in his life,” added Chow.
Smits wasn’t the only other actor from the prequels who showed up in Obi-Wan’s first two episodes. Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse also came back as Owen and Beru Lars, respectively. And with the return of Hayden Christensen at the end of episode two, Darth Vader’s rematch with Obi-Wan is inevitable. But for now, it’s hard to predict who else Ben might encounter in the remaining episodes. The premiere episode did hint at a possible role for Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn. Regardless, we probably won’t know for sure until the finale drops at the end of June.
The third episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi hits Disney+ tonight at midnight.
