Sean Gunn says Creature Commandos will debut in the fall of 2024.
Speaking with ScreenRant at the 51st Annual Saturn Awards, Gunn provided an updated release window for the upcoming Creature Commandos series.
“We have Creature Commandos coming out in the fall, which is amazing and I just cannot wait for an audience to see,” he said.
James Gunn, Sean’s brother, previously confirmed that Creature Commandos would debut in 2024. When asked on Threads if it would be early or late 2024, James Gunn said “later,” though no additional details were provided at the time.
Based on Sean Gunn’s comments, fans can now expect Creature Commandos to debut on Max in September, October, or November. Whether the entire season will drop at the same time or if new episodes will be released weekly is not immediately clear at this time.
Who else stars in Creature Commandos?
Sean Gunn is voicing G.I. Robot and Weasel in Creature Commandos. The voice cast also includes Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma as the Bride of Frankenstein, Zoë Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Doctor Phosphorus, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Steve Agee as John Economos, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Anya Chalotra as Circe.
James Gunn wrote all seven episodes of Creature Commandos, while he also serves as an executive producer alongside Peter Safran and Sam Register. Lisa Hallbauer, Kip Brown, and Karina Benesh serve as producers. Plot details remain under wraps at this time.
Sean Gunn is also playing Maxwell Lord in James Gunn and Safran’s forthcoming DCU, though it has not yet been announced what project he’ll make his live-action debut in. Following Creature Commandos, Superman: Legacy, which is written and directed by James Gunn, flies into theaters on July 11, 2025.
