Superman & Lois star Elizabeth Tulloch has warned fans that the stakes have never been higher for the superhero drama series, which is heading into its final season.
Speaking with Mama’s Geeky on the red carpet of the Saturn Awards, the Lois Lane actor revealed that the fourth and final season will feature multiple deaths. “There are deaths involved. It’s very epic. We’re going out with a bang. In the end, there are actually very, very high stakes,” she teased.
Tulloch also shared what her reaction was the first time she read the Superman & Lois Season 4 script, admitting, “I was crying.”
Superman & Lois is coming to an end
In November 2023, The CW announced that Superman & Lois would be ending with its upcoming 10-episode fourth season. The show, which was initially conceived as another entry in the fan-favorite Arrowverse, focuses on Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Tulloch) returning to Smallville to raise their twin sons Jonathan (Michael Bishop) and Jordan (Alex Garfin).
“Over the last three seasons, Superman & Lois redefined both the superhero genre and family drama as Tyler, Elizabeth and the entire cast effortlessly portrayed these classic characters with new layers of depth and complexity that had never before been explored in the Superman universe,” Brad Schwartz, The CW’s president of entertainment, said in a statement. “As Superman embarks on his final flight, the team is leaving us with an absolutely epic 10-episode must-watch-every-minute farewell to one of the most legendary CW families ever.”
Superman & Lois returns with a smaller cast
While the first three seasons of Superman & Lois featured a large ensemble cast, budget cuts have resulted in the final season having only five main cast members. Besides the Kent family, the only other main cast member will be Lex Luthor, played by The Walking Dead’s Micahel Cudlitz.
Superman & Lois Season 4 is expected to premiere on The CW in 2024.
