Spider-Man Will Join Marvel’s Avengers Later This Year

Black Panther may have just joined the ranks of Marvel’s Avengers, but Square Enix still plans on adding tons of new content to the game before 2021 comes to a close. In a new “State of the Game” blog post, the studio announced several new updates that will be rolling out over the next few months. That includes the long-awaited arrival of Spider-Man as a playable character for PS4 and PS5 users. You can check out the full roadmap below.

Spider-Man will make his Avengers debut alongside the game’s first-ever raid, which offers a proper denouement to Klaue’s story that began in August’s War for Wakanda expansion. Players will enter custom-crafted levels and battle new enemies called Echoes, who are described as “sound constructs” of Klaue’s own design. The Klaw Raid will be available in both standard and Elite modes. According to Square Enix, it’s “the most challenging content yet.”

In September, the studio will also celebrate Avengers’ one-year anniversary with several community activities. Gamers can look forward to Priority Rush Missions that reward success with new gear. Other activities will increase the Cargo Runner Synthoid’s spawn time and offer bonus XP for finishing Campaign Flashback missions. Throughout the fall and winter, Square Enix will also introduce new MCU tie-ins like unlockable skins and events that will coordinate with the release of new shows coming to Disney+.
