Marvel Announces Blade Video Game From Dishonored Developer

A new video game starring Marvel‘s resident vampire hunter Blade is officially in development at Arkane Studios.

At The Game Awards 2023, developer Arkane Lyon and publisher Bethesda dropped an announcement teaser trailer for Marvel’s Blade. “In Marvel’s Blade, Eric Brooks is the legendary Daywalker, half-man, half-vampire torn between the warm society of the living and the rushing power of the undead,” an official synopsis for the upcoming game reads. Marvel describes the title as a “mature, single-player, third-person game set in the heart of Paris.”

Founded in 1999, Arkane got its start developing games like JoWooD Productions’ Arx Fatalis (2002) and Ubisoft’s Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (2006). In 2010, ZeniMax Media — Bethesda’s parent company — acquired Arkane in full. Since then, the French developer has worked exclusively with Bethesda.

In 2012, Arkane and Bethesda put out the hit action-adventure game Dishonored — arguably the former’s most iconic title. Arkane went on to develop a sequel, Dishonored 2 (2016), and a stand-alone expansion to that sequel, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider (2017). Some of Arkane’s other Bethesda-era games include Prey, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, and Deathloop.

The on-screen history of Marvel’s Blade

Created by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan, Eric Brooks/Blade first appeared in 1973’s Tomb of Dracula #10. Wesley Snipes famously brought the character to live-action in New Line Cinema’s 1998 film Blade and its two sequels, Blade II (2002) and Blade: Trinity (2004). Kirk “Sticky Fingaz” Jones took over the role for Blade: The Series, which aired for a single season on Spike in 2006.

Marvel Studios is currently making a new Blade movie as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Starring Mahershala Ali as Eric Brooks, the reboot is slated to hit theaters on November 7, 2025. Ali previously made a voice cameo as Blade in the 2021 MCU film Eternals.

Blade is also no stranger to video games. The Daywalker first entered the virtual realm via a pair of movie tie-in titles in 1998 and 2002. Most recently, Blade appeared as a playable character in Firaxis Games’ 2022 tactical role-playing game Marvel’s Midnight Suns.

Marvel’s Blade is currently in development at Arkane Lyon. The game does not have a release date.
