Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics have shared a first look inside the upcoming eighth issue of Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici’s Void Rivals.
Written by Kirkman, illustrated by De Felici, colored by Patricio Delpeche, and lettered by Rus Wooton, Void Rivals #8 hits comic shops early this coming April. The issue features a main cover by De Felici, as well as variant covers by Fran Galán, André Lima Araújo with Chris O’Halloran, Qistina Khalidah, and Rod Reis. An official synopsis for the issue reads as follows: “Each issue of Void Rivals promises to take readers further into the Energon Universe, with more familiar faces to appear. Escaping through treacherous terrain in Void Rivals #8, Darak and Solila come face-to-face with the ultimate assassin — Proximus!”
Void Rivals returns for a brand-new arc
Void Rivals launched last June as the first series of Skybound and Image‘s Energon Universe — a shared universe of comics that also includes the Hasbro properties Transformers and G.I. Joe. Kirkman and De Felici’s space opera series went on hiatus after wrapping up its first story arc with issue #6 back in November. The series returned with issue #7 this week.
Skybound has already offered a glimpse at some of the major developments readers can expect in Void Rivals’ second arc. The comic studio recently announced that May’s issue #9 would mark the Energon Universe debut of Springer — a fan-favorite Transformer.
“If you needed a reminder, Void Rivals continues to be the series where we debut fan favorite characters and also explore exciting new corners of the Energon Universe,” Skybound editor-in-chief Sean Mackiewicz said at the time. “We’re only halfway through this arc and there’s no shortage of surprises to come.”
Void Rivals #8 goes on sale Wednesday, April 3 from Image Comics.
