The Suicide Squad star Daniela Melchior recently addressed her future as Ratcatcher II in James Gunn’s DC Universe.
In an interview with journalist Nestor Cine (via Twitter), Melchior was asked if she would be interested in appearing in the DCU, whether in a new role or reprising Ratcatcher II. “I’m open to explore another [DC] character, but I’m also open to explore more Ratcatcher II background or even like her future,” she replied. “I’ve been saying that Ratcatcher II is taking a nap right now, but I can’t wait to wake her up.”
Who is Ratcatcher II?
Introduced in the 2021 movie The Suicide Squad, Cleo Cazo is the second Ratcatcher in the DC Extended Universe having taking over the mantle from her unnamed father (Taika Waititi) following his death. Cleo uses her father’s technology, which allows her to control and communicate with rats, to commit crimes. She is part of the second Task Force X team in the movie, assisting Bloodsport, Peacemaker, King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, and later Harley Quinn and Rick Flag Jr., in infiltrating and destroying Jötenheim.
Although the DCU will be a new continuity with none of the previous DCEU projects considered canon, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Melchior can’t return as Ratcatcher II. Gunn has already confirmed that certain actors will be brought into the DCU to play the same character they portrayed in the DCEU.
Melchior’s Suicide Squad co-stars Viola Davis and John Cena are among the actors already confirmed to appear in the DCU, with the former set to appear in the animated series Creature Commandos and the latter in the forthcoming second season of his hit Max show, Peacemaker.
The Suicide Squad is available to stream on Max or Netflix.
