The Marvel brand is so strong at this point that the studio can bring all manner of characters into the MCU and turn them into household names. Luckily, Ms. Marvel is no exception. A series headlined by Kamala Khan was a gamble for many reasons, not the least of which is that it features a newcomer (Iman Vellani) in the starring role. But it sounds like casting an unknown was the right call, because early reactions to the show have hailed it as one of Marvel’s best. Ms. Marvel reactions.
Critics began sharing their first impressions of the series earlier today after watching its first two episodes. Although this is only one-third of what’s to come, most reviewers were impressed by what they have seen so far. Especially when it comes to Vellani, who is hailed as a welcome addition to the Marvel Studios family. You can check out a few highlights below.
Ms. Marvel: I’ve seen the first 2 episodes and they’re a delight.
Very Spider-Man Homecoming in tone and aesthetic. Iman Vellani is charismatic, compelling & endearing. Her supporting cast rules. The soundtrack is BANGIN and its passion for Marvel is infectious. It’s so fun. pic.twitter.com/AkQ64hCbBH

The first two episodes of #MsMarvel are a delight! It delivers a really engaging, high energy, school-set MCU story we haven’t gotten outside of Spider-Man: Homecoming. The vibrant visuals are great. Iman Vellani is ridiculously likeable. Yeah, I really dig this one. pic.twitter.com/GqiLOsldWw

I am happy to report that the first two episodes of #MsMarvel are absolutely delightful. Iman Vellani is a revelation in the role, just irrepressably bubbly and charismatic. But it’s not just froth – it’s also a beautiful ode to family, the Pakistani culture, and Muslim faith. pic.twitter.com/lda9863bLH

Iman Vellani is marvelous as young Kamala Khan aka #MsMarvel. The first 2 episodes are a fun, witty & colorful introduction to her imaginative teenage coming-of-age story. Style & tone reminded me of Mitchells Vs. The Machines. So far, so good. Looking forward to the rest of it. pic.twitter.com/mnVMayHMDK

#MsMarvel is a Delightful Surprise. The first 2 episodes establish a stylistic coming of age story visually/story wise that was AWESOME.. Kinda reminded me of Dope in some ways. Iman Vellani Ms Marvel is one of your next favorite Marvel Heroes! Very happy to see the rest pic.twitter.com/5wKhzsodea

Watched the first 2 episodes of Ms. Marvel, and they are delightful. Iman Vellani is 5 1/2 feet of charm & charisma, and Kamala is compellingly rendered as an exciting and flawed hero. The style is bursting with creativity, delivering a look unlike anything in the MCU. #MsMarvel pic.twitter.com/ibIZcXetCs

The creative style of #MsMarvel is wonderful, and adds a layer of fun to the #DisneyPlus series. After two episodes, I’ve fallen in love with Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan (because I’m a huge #CaptainMarvel fan also), and the rich culture @Marvel is bringing to fans. pic.twitter.com/2ZnDzFjsYI

#MsMarvel, based on the first two episodes, is shaping up to be another six-episode origin story (not a *huge* surprise). But it’s PACKED with charm, its own unique take on the formula, and a truly engaging performance from Iman Vellani. Small-scale MCU storytelling done right. pic.twitter.com/8Z3HoYyteC
